Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (رضی اللہ عنہ) says that one night the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) vanished from amongst us at one. Thus we started finding him in valleys and glens. And we said to each other that perhaps You (ﷺ) have been kidnapped [نعوذ باللہ] or [نعوذ باللہ] you have been murdered. We spent that night in immense perplexity. In the morning we saw you (ﷺ) coming from the cave of Hira. We told you (ﷺ) that last night he disappeared at once. We searched a lot for you (ﷺ), but upon not finding you (ﷺ) we were anxious for the whole night. Upon this You (ﷺ) said: “A representative of the jinss came to me. I went with him. And I recited the Holy Quran for them.” Then you (ﷺ) took us to that place and showed us the signs and and firelike signs of them. You (ﷺ) also told us upon asking that did jinns ask him (ﷺ) for something. Upon this you (ﷺ) said: “Every such bone is your diet upon which [بسم اللہ] has been recited, and every piece of dung is the food of your animals.” (Muslim)
